Post-MBA work and how it has changed my lifestyle September 15, 2007
Back in January, despite having a fairly good idea of what I was getting into, I was a bit apprehensive of the lifestyle I was going to have, or probably the lack of it.
Thankfully, it hasn’t been as bad and I am pleasantly surprised. While my company does have some bureaucracy, there is no face time in my team. While we do have some guidelines, we also have
Life at the office front has been fine except for a couple of settling issues (thanks to the bureaucracy). As far as stay in
- Service standards are ridiculously poor! Takes months to get even a utility connection.
- NHS is a complete mess. I got some skin infection, and am yet to be properly diagnosed (wonder what the doctors do!!!) after a month
- Weather: don’t even get me started on that!
- House search: ahhhhh. Can’t/don’t want to do it again. Had to go through 35 houses before liking one. Tell me, is it that difficult to have a properly ventilated 2 BR house, with a garden, large kitchen and extra large bathroom, split level bedrooms, in proper location with access to Tennis/Squash facilities… OK, I hear you!! Maybe I indeed was asking too much ;)
- Cycling is catching up, though the public transport is not great and can be/should be/is being transformed!
My house address has become static (yes, I have stayed at the same address for more than 4 months for the first time in last 4 years!). It feels amazing :). Weekends are for travel outside. Or cycling/squash/running if in
And best is that I have some money. To spend! Adventures lay abound. Now all I need is a partner in crime!
PS: I have the London – Paris cycling coming up next week! Yippppppeeeeeee!
